Memorial Weekend

As we get ready to enjoy the long weekend and commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States,  I want to thank all of our coaches and team managers for all your time you have provided to making this a great lacrosse season for the kids.  We have a number of players from the girls and boys teams playing in the North-South game this weekend and I hope they all have a great time.
Coaches also remember, if you have any make-up games to be played, all games need to be completed by June 3rd.  Any game after that will not be viewed as a official game in the standings or used in the NHYLA Festival brackets.
Enjoy the remainder of the regular season, the NHYLA Festival will be again June 9-10.  All games will be playedin one location this year on the Soughegan High School Fields.  We will need a number of volunteers, so please make sure you get your families to sign up as this is a important event for the club as a fundraiser and promoting this great game of lacrosse in our community.
Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication to these great kids you coach and making it fun!

SVL Board Member Recruitment for 2019 Spring Season

To our Souhegan Valley Lacrosse Club community:

The spring lacrosse season is not over, but every year we have expected turn-over in board positions due to board members children aging out of the program. So we are recruiting now for the 2019 spring season.

Our SVL Board plays a critical role in guiding the overall direction and philosophy of the youth lacrosse program in the Souhegan Valley area.  We anticipate the need to fill several Board positions in order to ensure continuity of the SVL youth lacrosse program, and to bring fresh ideas and new energy to the Board.

If you would like to have a positive impact on youth sports and in the lives of children in our community, please consider joining the SVL Board for the 2019 Spring season. (Board Members start meeting monthly first monday of the month in September) Previous lacrosse or Board experience is not required!  If interested, you will receive support and guidance from the Board to assist you during the transition.

Sua Sponte - Leadership Camp

Sua Sponte

Sua Sponte comes from the Latin term “of their own accord”. Our lacrosse and leadership camp is designed to bring the young men that attend to start to understand that if they want something they need to be the ones that go get it. Not only will the student-athletes get the best in lacrosse fundamentals and IQ, we will be doing classroom sessions and outdoor activities on leadership, teamwork and understanding if you want something in life you need to work for it. This camp is designed for highly motivated individuals to get better not only at lacrosse, but in their everyday lives as well. This year the camp is adding a ropes and obstacle “confidence and leadership” course. This will help the campers conquer fears and put their leadership ability to the test! The Campers of the week will receive a custom, one of a kind, cascade S (4 player will earn this award).
The use of New Hampton School's newly renovated $8M dollar rink will enhance and make our box sessions one of a kind. The camp is going to include more instruction on the field as well as in the box.

Overnight/Day Camp designed to push even the best lacrosse players in our region on and off the field, both from a mental and physical perspective. The real focus is teaching leadership and internal drive to rely on themselves to go get something when they want it. The players will understand the roles of any team and have life lessons that will translate to the classroom, on the field, and later in life when they join the workforce. We will conduct question and answer panels with our staff to give players an understanding of what it truly takes to make it at the higher levels, both academic and athletically. There are over 800,000 varsity student athletes that play at the varsity level in the United States, that number decreases to roughly130,000 varsity athletes at the D1, D2 and D3 levels. Does your player have the understanding of what it truly takes to be the best at whatever they want to do? Our camp is designed to help them understand what being the best means and once they get there, that is only the start. The rest is up to them. This knowledge is one of the greatest gifts you can bless your players with. WE know there are other options when looking at Summer camps, we are providing feedback and honest assessments to the players that come to camp, it is truly a special experience and we hope to see all our returning campers and a ton of new faces!
Coach Justin Simon
Justin Simon was named the head lacrosse coach at New Hampton in 2011.  Coach Simon was named US Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017; however, his most prestigious accomplishment has been being selected as the 2017 ‘Lakes Region Coach of the Year’. “Coach Simon wasn't named Lakes Region Coach of the Year solely because of his team’s impressive winning streak. His cultivation of team, talent, and character have worked together over the past six years, to place the New Hampton School Varsity Lacrosse Program among the top twenty high school programs in the country, and to highlight the passion and intention with which he guides his players.” Justin earned a B.A. at Bates College in 2008.  In 2010, he received his M.Ed in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Athletic Administration from PSU Graduate School. While at Bates, Justin played both lacrosse and soccer.  In lacrosse, he was a four-year starter at attack, a three-time leading scorer, and earned All-NESCAC recognition by his junior season. Simon graduated from Holderness in 2004 with 12 varsity letters in soccer, hockey, and lacrosse; he was a captain in both soccer and lacrosse.
Coach Summers
Coach Ray Summers is currently a member of the Coaching Staff at St Paul's School in Concord NH. Coach Summers graduated high School from Pinkerton Academy and decided to enlist in the US Army. He was selected and graduated US Army Airborne School. Upon Graduation of Airborne School Coach Summers was selected to attend the Ranger Indoctrination Course, Coach Summers class started with 142 Soldiers and he was one of 38 to graduate, upon graduation Coach Summers was assigned to 1 Ranger Battalion, part of 75th Ranger Regiment . His time in Ranger Regiment taught him some of the greatest leadership techniques available. The camp name “Sua Sponte” is actually shared and was the driving force in naming the camp as we did. Post service Coach Summers walked on to New Hampshire College and played varsity Lacrosse at the division 2 level. After Graduating with his Bachelor's degree he started his Coaching career at Southern New Hampshire University, where he coached for 11 years. Coach Summers left SNHU to found 4Leaf Lacrosse New England in 2013. Coach Summers was honored with being selected for the D2/D3 North South game as a head coach in 2006. Coach Summers recruited and coached the first NCAA All-American's in program history. He brings a ton of energy and passion to helping young men understand their potential and drive their limits to what they are mentally capable of doing. A father of three children he is passionate about teaching not only lacrosse, but accountability to our next generations.

River Hawks Learn to Play Program (4-8)

River Hawks Learn To Play Program

If you know any families that may be interested in the Learn to Play, sign ups are now open!

Register for our Learn to Play 2018 program at for boys and girls age 4-8.

The spring session will be for 6 weeks from May 15th to June 21stTuesday and Thursday evenings at Front Wilkens School Amherst.

If you have an older child that would like to try lacrosse for the 1st time, please reach out to us. Because we want to make trying lacrosse an easy and fun activity, the program we will be using for Learn to Play is a soft lacrosse program, so unlike regular boys and girls lacrosse, helmets, padding, and goggles are not required to play. All the kids need is the stick included with the registration fee, and a desire to try out lacrosse and have fun.

We are also looking for any Mom or Dad's that are interested in coaching.  We are also looking for Team Manager (Team Parent).  Great way to get involved.  Learn to play coaches will work along US Lacrosse Certified Coaches, but it is a great way to learn the game and get your US Lacrosse certification as your child progresses in the game. If you have a background as a past player/coach that is great also but not neccessary. If your interested in coaching, please reach out to either

President/Coach Mike Hannon -, or

VP/Coach Todd Boudreau @ www. .
